Discover The Heart Of Washington, DC’s Hidden Treasures

Welcome to Washington, DC, where history meets modernity in a captivating dance! Whether this is your first or 100th time visiting the nation’s capital, you’ll always discover something new. Let’s start with the essentials:

Travel Tips: Navigating the Capital

  • Airports: You have 3 convenient options to choose from:
    – Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) – a 10-minute drive from the Capital.
    – Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) – 45 minute drive to DC, and
    – Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) – 50-minute drive to DC.
DCA and IAD are accessible by Metro (and yes, here we don’t call it a Subway. That’s a sandwich shop.) DCA is on Metrorail’s Blue and Yellow Line, and IAD is on the Silver Line. From BWI you can find shuttles to take you to Amtrak and MARC trains bound for DC’s Union Station.
  • Getting Around: Avoid the notorious DC traffic and pricey public parking by using rideshare apps like Uber, Alto, or Lyft. For a more eco-friendly option, hop on a bike with Capital Bikeshare, or rent a bike and helmet from Unlimited Biking. The Metro is also a reliable way to traverse the city, but you’ll need a SmarTrip card, which you can get at any station. Hail a taxi on the street if you don’t mind spending a few extra $$ for the convenience, but keep in mind they are not always yellow.
  • Accessibility: DC is one of the most accessible cities to welcome visitors with special needs. If you need mobility assistance, Scootaround and Orthopaedic Mobility Rentals offer excellent daily, weekly, or monthly rentals.
